Are you still determined to make 2014 the best year yet? A lot of that can come in with gratitude. It can be so easy to fall into a trap of negativity. To overcome that, try keeping a gratitude journal. It’s as easy as writing down one thing you are thankful for each day. Whether it’s first thing in the morning, before you go to bed or start cooking dinner, make it a habit. Here are some tips to get started. Hopefully you notice some improvements and start focusing on optimism, if you don’t already.

1. Go for depth over breadth – Focus on thing each day instead of a long list of minor details.
2. Get personal – Focus on relationships and people over materialistic things.
3. Don’t overdo it – Don’t get into a habit of over listing because keeping the journal will start to feel more like a chore than a treat.

Give it a shot! We would love to hear from you how it helps improve your state of mind.
