Cenegenics Boston now offers V02 Max Testing!
What is VO2 Max?
VO2 Max is a measure of aerobic capacity. VO2 Max refers to the maximum amount of oxygen that a person can use during intense exercise. It is measured as milliliters of oxygen used per minute per kilogram of body weight. The VO2 max is widely accepted as the single best measure of aerobic fitness. There are many different ways to determine your VO2 max. Performing the VO2 Max test on an exercise bike is the safest method to obtain these results.
V02 Max Boston
At Cenegenics Boston, VO2 tests are conducted using the state of the art KORR Cardio Coach along with an exercise bike. During the test we monitor heart rate with a chest strap, and you wear a special mask for analysis of oxygen use and carbon dioxide production. The KORR Cardio Coach monitors your total volume of air exchanged plus oxygen burned and carbon dioxide exhaled per minute. This is a maximal effort test which typically lasts between 8-12 minutes, including warm-up and cool-down.
VO2 Max testing is extremely valuable whether you are an Elite Athlete, beginner or weekend warrior, or just want to stop wasting time with exercise that doesn’t work.
After the test, we work closely with you to help you understand the data received from the test. The information is something like evaluating your car for MPG’s and horsepower, and load or work capacity. Key elements of the report include: Maximum HR (heart rate), O2 Pulse, Respiratory Capacity, Work output or Watts/minute, and Anaerobic Threshold.
Why Get Tested?
Knowing your Anaerobic Threshold is critical to exercising both EFFICIENTLY AND EFFECTIVELY at the same time. Why spend more time exercising and getting less results? We can then help design the best cardio training program and the best weight loss program based on the data received and relative to your personal goals.
